Porsche are recalling Panamera II (type 971) to re-programme the e-PAS control module. Worldwide 74,585 type 971’s are affected – these were built between 21st March 2016 and 06th December 2018.
The e-PAS software fault means steering assistance can fail for limited periods, which then requires the driver to increase the applied torque to the steering wheel. This unexpected variation in steering wheel effort may cause some concern to customers / drivers. As a precautionary measure the e-PAS control module software will be updated with a revised ‘data record’.
Porsche in each country will contact owners of affected vehicles, and the free update will take 1 hour to complete. Other applications og this e-PAS system appear not to be affected so far.
